Notes

Substitutes:

  • Southern Comfort: If you don't have Southern Comfort, you can use bourbon with a splash of peach liqueur or apricot brandy for a similar flavor profile. You can also experiment with other whisk(e)y liqueurs such as Drambuir or Jack Daniel’s Honey for a different twist on this cocktail.
  • Cranberry Juice: Pomegranate juice is an alternative if you're out of cranberry juice. It gives a slightly different but equally refreshing taste.
  • Fresh Lime Juice: You can use bottled lime juice in a pinch, but the flavor will be less bright and fresh. Another option is to use fresh lemon juice for a slightly different citrus kick.

Making a Pitcher of Scarlett O'Hara Cocktail:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 12 oz of Southern Comfort, 12 oz of cranberry juice, and 4 oz of lime juice.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the Southern Comfort, cranberry, and lime juice. Add ice and stir well.
  • Serve: Strain to remove the ice, serve immediately into chilled Martini or coupe glasses, and garnish each drink with a lime wheel. If you have some leftovers, be sure to keep them in the fridge (make sure no ice cubes are left inside) in an airtight container.
