Notes
Substitutes:
- Scotch Whiskey: If you don't have Scotch, try using bourbon for a sweeter profile. I've also used rye whiskey for a spicier kick.
- Dry Vermouth: Swap Dry vermouth for white wine or a dry sherry.
- Angostura Bitters: If you're out of Angostura, orange bitters can add a nice citrus note.
Making a Pitcher of Dry Rob Roy:
- Scale: To serve 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. That means 16 oz of Scotch whiskey, 8 oz of dry Vermouth, and about 16 dashes of bitters.
- Mix: Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher filled with ice and stir well.
- Serve: Strain into individual chilled glasses and garnish each with a lemon twist.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Whiskey Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative; these mimic the flavor without the alcohol.
- Vermouth Substitute: Try using white grape juice with a splash of apple cider vinegar for acidity.
- Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a non-alcoholic version.
