Making a Pitcher of Chartreuse Swizzle:

History and Origin

A famous bartender from San Francisco named Marcovaldo Dionysos created this drink in 2002 at the bar ‘Tres Agaves’ in San Francisco.

Dionysos took inspiration from the traditional swizzle drinks of the Caribbean. These drinks usually have rum, sugar, and bitters. But Dionysos wanted to do something different.

Instead of using rum, he used Green Chartreuse as the main spirit. Carthusian Monks in France have been making this special liqueur since 1737. Its unique color and complex taste come from a secret mix of 130 herbs and plants.
