Substitutes:
- Green Chartreuse: If you don't have green Chartreuse, yellow Chartreuse can be used as a substitute, although it will make the drink slightly sweeter and less herbal.
- Pineapple Juice: Freshly squeezed orange or apple juice can be substituted for pineapple juice.
- Lime Juice: Lemon juice can be used instead of lime juice, but it will change the flavor profile slightly.
- Velvet Falernum: If you can't find velvet falernum, you can make a simple syrup infused with clove and lime zest.
Making a Pitcher of Chartreuse Swizzle:
- To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 12 oz of green Chartreuse, 8 oz of pineapple juice, 6 oz of lime juice, and 4 oz of velvet falernum.
- In a large pitcher, combine all the ingredients and stir well.
- Pour the mixture into crushed ice-filled rocks glasses, garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Green Chartreuse Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic herbal tea, such as green or chamomile tea.
- Velvet Falernum Substitute: Make a simple syrup infused with clove and lime zest.
- Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
This cocktail is already vegan-friendly as it does not contain any animal products. Just use vegan sugar when making simple syrup for the velvet falernum substitute.
