Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz lemon Juice
  • 1 oz grenadine
  • Soda water, to top up
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slice or twist, for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Highball Glass
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Stirrer or Bar Spoon

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Add Lemon Juice: Measure and pour 1 oz lemon Juice into the glass.
  • Add Grenadine: Add 1 oz grenadine to the mix.
  • Add Vodka: Pour 2 oz Vodka over the ice.
  • Top up with Soda Water: Fill the rest of the glass with soda water.
  • Stir: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients.
  • Garnish: Place a lemon slice or twist into the glass for garnish.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Vodka: If you're out of vodka, try white rum for a slightly different flavor profile. I've also used gin instead of vodka for a more botanical taste.
  • Lemon Juice: I've used lime juice instead of lemon juice in a pinch. It changes the character of the drink but still works well.
  • Grenadine: A simple syrup can substitute if you don't have Grenadine. Add a small pomegranate juice splash to mimic Grenadine's unique flavor.

Making a Pitcher of Bingo Drink:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 16 oz of vodka, 8 oz of lemon juice, and 8 oz of Grenadine.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the vodka, lemon juice, and Grenadine. Stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, top up with soda water, garnish with a lemon slice or twist, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Vodka Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic vodka substitute; these are available and reasonably mimic vodka's flavor.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use this non-alcoholic substitute instead of the regular vodka, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • All Ingredients: The Bingo Drink is naturally vegan as it contains no animal products. Just make sure to use a vegan-friendly vodka brand, as some brands use animal products in their filtration process.

What is a Bingo Drink made of – The ingredients

A Bingo Drink is made from these ingredients:

  • Vodka: This is the cocktail’s base spirit, providing the alcoholic content and a clean, neutral flavor.
  • Lemon Juice: Adds a tangy citrus note to the drink, balancing out the sweetness of the other ingredients.
  • Grenadine: This sweet syrup, made from pomegranate juice, gives the drink its distinctive color and adds a fruity sweetness.
  • Soda Water: Used to top up the drink, it adds effervescence and dilutes the strong flavors slightly, making the cocktail more refreshing.
