  • Grapefruit slice or twist, for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Wine Glass or Highball Glass
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Stirrer or Bar Spoon

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: Fill your wine glass or highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Add Liqueur: Pour 2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Liqueur over the ice.
  • Add Prosecco: Pour approximately 3 oz Prosecco into the glass.
  • Add Soda Water: Top up with approximately 1 oz soda water.
  • Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
  • Garnish: Place a grapefruit slice or twist into the glass for garnish.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Ruby Red Grapefruit Liqueur: If you don't have Ruby Red Grapefruit Liqueur, experiment with any fruit liqueur you have on hand.  I've also tried using an orange liqueur like Cointreau for a different citrus profile.
  • Prosecco: Champagne or sparkling wine works well if you don't have Prosecco. I sometimes use a dry sparkling rosé for a unique twist.
  • Soda Water: Club soda or tonic water can be substituted. Tonic water adds a slightly bitter note that complements the grapefruit flavor nicely.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Grapefruit Liqueur Substitute: Use fresh grapefruit juice mixed with a bit of simple syrup to mimic the sweetness and flavor of the liqueur.
  • Prosecco Substitute: Opt for non-alcoholic sparkling wine or sparkling grape juice to keep the bubbly texture.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
