Notes
Substitutes:
- Pimm's No. 1: If you can't find Pimm's No. 1, you can replace it with any other brand of fruit cup liqueur. If none of them are available, you can use Aperol or Select aperitivo as a substitute, even though it will give your drink a notably more bitter taste.
- Sparkling Lemonade: If you don't have sparkling lemonade, you can simply use any lemon soda you may have on hand (you may then have to adjust the quantity so your drink does not get too sweet). Alternatively, you can use still lemonade as a substitute: it will still make for a fresh and tasty drink.
- Prosecco or Champagne: If you're not a fan of Prosecco or Champagne, you can use any sparkling white wine or even club soda for a less alcoholic version.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Pimm's No. 1 Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic fruit cup substitute; these are available and do a reasonable job mimicking gin's botanicals. Another option would be to replace the Pimm’s with a tablespoon of orange juice and a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar (you can even try with fruit-flavored vinegar!). The vinegar will bring a deep color to your drink as well as a fruity, acidic kick that will give your drink character and complexity.
- Prosecco or Champagne Substitute: Opt for a non-alcoholic sparkling white wine or club soda.
- Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Check Your Wine: Some wines use animal products in their filtration process. Use a vegan-friendly Prosecco or Champagne to keep this cocktail vegan.
- Pimm’s No. 1 is vegan-friendly, and so are most fruit cup liqueurs. If in doubt, check the brand website for further information.
- Proceed As Usual: After ensuring your wine and your liqueur are vegan-friendly, follow the original steps to enjoy a refreshing vegan Pimm's Spritz.
What is a Pimm’s Spritz?
A Pimm’s Spritz is a cocktail made of Pimm’s No. 1, lemonade, fresh fruit, and Prosecco. This refreshing drink is relatively easy to make as it only requires mixing the ingredients in a glass filled with ice. The Pimm’s Spritz is a crossover between the Aperol Spritz and the classic Pimm’s Cup, a summer British favorite.
