Notes

Substitutes:

  • Irish Whiskey: If you don't have Irish whiskey, try using bourbon for a sweeter profile or rye whiskey for a spicier kick.
  • Benedictine: You can substitute with Drambuie for a slightly different herbal note if you're out of Benedictine.
  • Grand Marnier: Triple sec or Cointreau can replace Grand Marnier if needed; they both provide that essential orange flavor.
  • Lemon Juice: Lime juice can be an alternative for a different citrus twist.

Making a Pitcher of Brotherhood:

  1. Scale: To make a pitcher serving 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. Use 8 oz of whiskey, 4 oz of Benedictine, 4 oz of Grand Marnier, and 6 oz of lemon juice.
  2. Mix: In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients with ice and stir well.
  3. Serve: Strain into chilled coupe glasses and garnish each with a lemon peel.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Whiskey Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative; these are available and mimic the flavor profile quite well.
  • Benedictine & Grand Marnier Substitute: Create a simple syrup infused with herbs and orange zest to replicate the complex flavors without alcohol.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a non-alcoholic version.
