Notes
Substitutes:
- Cachaça: If you don't have Cachaça, I've used white rum as an alternative. It provides a similar base spirit feel but with a slightly different flavor profile.
- Coffee Liqueur: In place of coffee liqueur, try using Irish Cream or a Hazelnut Liqueur for a different but still enjoyable flavor.
- Whipped Cream: For a lighter option, I sometimes use frothed milk.
Making a Pitcher of Brazilian Coffee:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 8 oz of Cachaça, 4 oz of coffee liqueur, and 16 oz of brewed coffee.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the Cachaça, coffee liqueur, and brewed coffee. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into individual ice-filled mugs or glasses, top with whipped cream, garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Cachaça Substitute: Use non-alcoholic alternatives available in stores; they mimic the flavor of the spirits without the alcohol content.
- Coffee Liqueur Substitute: Opt for cold brew concentrate mixed with a bit of vanilla extract and sugar to replicate the liqueur's sweetness and depth.
- Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Whipped Cream Substitute: Use coconut whipped cream or almond-based whipped topping for a vegan-friendly option.
- Ensure All Ingredients Are Vegan: Double-check that your coffee liqueur is vegan-friendly; some brands may contain animal-derived ingredients.
