Ingredients

  • 1 oz citron vodka
  • 1 oz grenadine
  • ½ oz blue curaçao
  • 1 oz cold water
  • Crushed ice

Equipment

  • Highball or Collins Glass
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Straw
  • Stirrer or Bar Spoon (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix Blue Curaçao and Water: In a measuring cup, mix together ½ oz blue curaçao with 1 oz cold water. This will ensure that the blue curaçao is light enough to float on top of the grenadine and citron vodka later. Set it aside.
  • Add Grenadine: Pour 1 oz grenadine into a Highball or Collins glass.
  • Add Citron Vodka: Add 1 oz citron vodka.
  • Add Crushed Ice: Fill the glass with a generous amount of crushed ice and add a straw.
  • Layer Blue Curaçao: Slowly and carefully pour the mix of blue curaçao and water over the top of the drink to create a blue layer on top of the red one. If you want, you can try pouring it over the back of a spoon, as you would to float a layer of alcohol in a cocktail.
  • Serve: Add more crushed ice if necessary and serve immediately.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Blue Curaçao: If you don't have blue curaçao, you can use triple sec or regular curaçao with a few drops of blue food coloring for that vibrant hue.
  • Citron Vodka: Regular vodka can be used as well, but the end result may be lacking a bit of flavor. If you don’t have lemon vodka or simply want to experiment, you can use any other type of citrus-flavored vodka you like to make this drink. Depending on your preferences, light rum or gin can also be used as substitutes.
  • Grenadine: You can use another red fruit syrup (such as raspberry or strawberry syrup) as a substitute for grenadine. Just make sure the syrup you’re using is bright red to achieve the best visual result.

Making it vegan:

The Bomb Pop drink is naturally vegan as it doesn't contain any animal products. Most spirits, including vodka and curaçao, are vegan-friendly. However, some brands may use animal products in their production process, especially if a filtration process is involved. Always check the brand's website or contact them directly to ensure their products are vegan.
