Instructions

- Add Butterscotch Schnapps: Take your cocktail shaker and pour 1 oz Butterscotch Schnapps inside.
- Add Irish Cream: Add 1 oz Baileys Irish Cream.
- Add Cinnamon Schnapps: Add 1 oz Cinnamon Schnapps or Fireball to the mix.
- Shake Well: Fill the shaker with ice, close it, and give it a good shake (10-15 seconds).
- Strain: Take the rimmed Old Fashioned glass out of the freezer and fill it with ice cubes. Then, use the cocktail strainer to pour the shaken drink into the ice-filled glass.
- Garnish: Sprinkle a bit of ground cinnamon on top of the drink (optional) and serve immediately.
Notes
Substitutes:
- Baileys Irish Cream: If you don't have Baileys on hand, you can use any other Irish cream liqueur (like Carolans or Five Farms) or a homemade version. For a homemade version, try preparing a mix of heavy cream, Irish whisky, powdered cacao, vanilla syrup and a drop of coffee extract. Use an electric blender to mix well and combine the ingredients, adjust to taste and store in the fridge after use.
- Butterscotch Schnapps: Caramel vodka works well if you're out of Butterscotch Schnapps. It gives a similar sweet flavor but with a different profile.
- Cinnamon Schnapps or Fireball: Any cinnamon liqueur can be used to prepare this cocktail (Jack Daniel’s Fire, for example, is a good alternative). For a cocktail with a lower alcohol content, you can also use cinnamon syrup as a substitute for the schnapps.
- Honey and ground oatmeal cookies: If you’d like a different look for your cocktail, an easy and delicious option would be to rim your glass with a mix of ground cinnamon and powdered sugar. Feel free to experiment with different spices and rim combinations!
Making a Pitcher of Oatmeal Cookie Cocktail:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 8 oz of Baileys, 8 oz of Butterscotch Schnapps, and 8 oz of Fireball or cinnamon schnapps.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the Baileys, Butterscotch Schnapps, and Fireball or cinnamon schnapps. Add ice and stir well.
- Serve: Strain to remove the ice and serve immediately into prepared and ice filled Old Fashioned glasses (see “Instructions” section above). If you have some leftovers, be sure to keep it in the fridge (make sure no ice cubes are left inside) in an airtight container
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Baileys Substitute: Use non-alcoholic Irish cream; these are available and mimic the creamy texture well. You can also use caramel or vanilla milk as a substitute.
- Butterscotch Schnapps Substitute: Opt for butterscotch or caramel syrup to get that sweet flavor without the alcohol.
- Fireball substitute: You can use cinnamon syrup as a substitute; however, as syrups are usually sweeter than liqueurs, you may have to adjust the quantities in order to preserve the cocktail’s balance. Another option would be to add a drop of cinnamon extract or a pinch of cinnamon syrup into the mix before whisking well to combine.
- Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Baileys Substitute: Use Baileys Almande or another vegan cream liqueur to keep it dairy-free.
- Butterscotch Schnapps Substitute: Ensure your Butterscotch Schnapps is vegan-friendly; some brands may contain animal products, especially butter.
- Fireball Substitute: Although the label does not mention any animal products in the list of ingredients, it seems that ingredients bought from third parties and used on the production line (such as sugar and yeasts) are not 100% vegan and cruelty-free. If you’re feeling uneasy about using this product, try making this cocktail with Jack Daniel’s Fire: this whiskey & cinnamon liqueur is vegan-friendly and will make for an equally delicious cocktail.
- Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these vegan-friendly ingredients to enjoy a vegan version of this cocktail.
