  • 6 oz soda water, fill up
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedge, for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Highball Glass
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Stirrer or Bar Spoon

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Add Cachaça: Pour 2 oz Cachaça over the ice.
  • Add Soda Water: Top off the glass with approx. 6 oz soda water.
  • Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
  • Garnish: Squeeze and drop a lime wedge in the glass for garnish.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Cachaça: If you don't have cachaça, you can use white rum as a substitute. It won't have the same earthy flavor but works well in a pinch. I've also tried using vodka for a cleaner taste.
  • Soda Water: You can use sparkling water or club soda if you don't have soda water. They both provide the same fizzy effect.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Cachaça Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic spirit that mimics cachaça's flavor profile. These are available and do a reasonable job.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use this non-alcoholic substitute instead of regular cachaça, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

This recipe is already vegan-friendly! Just ensure that any garnishes or additional ingredients you use are also vegan.
