East London’s freshest gem, La Bibliothèque, has opened its door to the public, looking to redefine hospitality standards by merging luxury and local charm under one roof.
And even better, spearheaded by MAP Maison’s visionary team, it also offers a captivating blend of Mediterranean and Japanese flavours through its innovative and exquisite drinks selection behind the bar.
Fusion Flavours Inspired by Japan
Led by Global Bars Manager Melissa Frangi, La Bibliothèque’s feature bar offers an eclectic range of signature cocktails and a selection of 80 gins, meaning your perfect G&T is just one request away. But if that’s not to your taste, pick from a globally-inspired wine list and an outstanding sake collection to satisfy your taste buds.
We spoke to Melissa who talked us through a couple of the top creations on offer for those visiting:
Firstly, Melissa introduces us to the “Kaizen”—a delicate blend of Suntory Toki Japanese whisky and Roku Gin with homemade rose and cardamom vinegar syrup and topped with a peach and jasmine soda. “It’s a cocktail that took some time to balance and serve correctly. That’s why I chose to name it ‘Kaizen’, a Japanese term meaning “change for the better”. With such an eclectic mix of flavours, it’s certainly a must-try for any guests in the bar.
Next, is “Memories”: “One of my favourites on the La Bibliothèque menu, this cocktail reminds me a lot of my origins,” says Melissa. Crafted by merging Italian tradition with Japanese flair, bringing both Mediterranean and East Asian flavours together in one glass.
Combining Gin Yuzu sorbet in a Martini glass and topping with sparkling sake, you taste a fusion of flavours, reminiscent of the tradition within Japanese culture and its taste profiles. And if you’ve got too stuck into the delicious cocktails—you can always stay the night, as La Bibliotheque also has three luxurious bedrooms to choose from.
Commitment To An Exceptional Experience
Co-founder Joseph Arowolo emphasises the La Bibliothèque team’s dedication to exceptional service by saying, “Infused with an unwavering passion for hospitality, our ethos revolves around creating unforgettable experiences”. The venue marks a distinctive new addition to London’s vibrant bar scene by blending artistry with high-quality service.
Joseph goes on to say, “Your journey with us is more than a stay; it’s an immersion into a world where hospitality is an art form”.
