Highball Glass
Measuring Jigger
Stirrer or Bar Spoon
Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
Add Lime Juice: Squeeze in 1 oz fresh lime juice.
Add Agave Syrup: Mesure out and pour ½ oz agave syrup in the glass.
Add Tequila: Pour 2 oz Tequila over the ice.
Optional: for a fruitier and slightly stronger drink, add ½ oz Triple Sec to the mix.
Top Up: Top up the glass with Topo Chico mineral water (or any other brand if not available).
Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
Garnish: Place a lime wedge on the rim of the glass for garnish.
Substitutes:
- Tequila: If you don't have Tequila, you can use vodka as a substitute. It won't have the same flavor profile but will still make a refreshing drink.
- Lime Juice: Bottled lime juice can work in a pinch if fresh limes aren't available. However, if possible, I always recommend fresh for the best flavor.
- Topo Chico: Any sparkling mineral water can be used if Topo Chico isn't available. Perrier is a good match for example. Just ensure it's unsweetened and unflavored to keep the integrity of the cocktail.
Making a Pitcher of Ranch Water:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 16 oz of Tequila, 8 oz of lime juice, and enough soda water to top up each glass.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the lime juice, agave syrup, and Tequila. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, top up with Topo Chico, garnish with a lime wedge, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Tequila Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic tequila substitute; these are available and do a good job mimicking Tequila's flavor.
Making it Vegan:
This cocktail is already vegan-friendly. Just use a vegan-friendly tequila brand (most are, but it's always good to check).
