Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes, stir and set it aside.
Add Pineapple Juice: Pour in 2 oz pineapple juice in the shaker.
Add Blue Curaçao: Add 1 oz blue Curaçao to the mix.
Add Melon Liqueur: Measure and pour 1 oz melon liqueur into the shaker.
Add Whiskey: Pour 1 oz Irish Whiskey into the mix.
Add Ice: Fill your shaker with ice.
Shake: Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds.
Strain: Strain your drink into the highball glass over fresh ice.
Garnish: Place a pineapple slice or cherry on top for garnish.
Substitutes:
- Irish Whiskey: If you don't have Irish whiskey, try using bourbon for a slightly sweeter taste. I've also used rye whiskey for a spicier kick.
- Melon Liqueur: If you are out of Melon liqueur, opt for a peach liquor instead, for a different fruity twist.
- Blue Curaçao: Triple sec with a drop of blue food coloring works in a pinch, though it won't have the same vibrant hue.
- Pineapple Juice: Freshly squeezed orange juice can replace pineapple juice for a citrusy twist.
Making a Pitcher of Drunk Leprechaun:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 8 oz of Irish whiskey, 8 oz of melon liqueur, 8 oz of blue curaçao, and 16 oz of pineapple juice.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the whiskey, melon liqueur, blue curaçao, and pineapple juice. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into individual ice-filled highball glasses, garnish with a pineapple slice or cherry, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Whiskey Substitute: Use non-alcoholic whiskey alternatives available in stores; they mimic the flavor without the alcohol content.
- Liqueur Substitutes: For melon liqueur and blue curaçao, use flavored syrups like melon syrup and blue curaçao syrup to maintain sweetness and color.
- Proceed As Usual: Replace alcoholic ingredients with these substitutes and follow the original steps for a non-alcoholic version.
