Make Don's Delight with this straightforward recipe! Blend bourbon, Tequila, amaretto, lime juice, sugar syrup, and egg white for a delightful winter cocktail.

Ingredients
 

  • ½ oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Tequila
  • ½ oz Amaretto
  • ¾ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz sugar syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • Lime zest - optional
  • Ice cubes

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Strainer & Fine-strainer
  • Coupe Glass

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: chill your old fashioned glass.
  • Add Egg White: add 1 egg white to the shaker.
  • Add Sugar Syrup: Measure and pour ½ oz sugar syrup into the shaker.
  • Add Lime: Add ¾ oz lime juice into the shaker.
  • Add Amaretto: Measure and pour ½ oz Amaretto.
  • Add Bourbon: Add ½ oz Bourbon into the shaker.
  • Add Tequila: Finish with 1 oz Tequila.
  • Shake: Cover the shaker and give it a good shake to create a nice foam.
  • Add Ice: Fill your cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  • Shake Second Time: Shake a second time until well mixed.
  • Strain: Fine strain the cocktail into your chilled coupe glass.
  • Serve: Garnish with slime peel and enjoy your freshly made Don's Delight.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Bourbon: If you don't have bourbon, try using rye whiskey for a spicier kick. I've also used dark rum for a sweeter twist.
  • Tequila: Substitute with mezcal if you want a smoky flavor profile. It adds an interesting depth to the drink.
  • Amaretto: Use hazelnut liqueur as an alternative for a nutty variation that complements the other flavors well.
  • Lime Juice: Lemon juice works in a pinch, although it will slightly alter the citrus notes.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Bourbon Substitute: Use non-alcoholic whiskey alternatives available in stores; they mimic the flavor without alcohol.
  • Tequila Substitute: Opt for a non-alcoholic tequila substitute or use agave syrup for sweetness and depth.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes to enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • Egg White Substitute: Use aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) instead of egg white for frothiness without animal products.
  • Proceed As Usual: Replace egg white with aquafaba in the original recipe steps to create a vegan-friendly cocktail.
