Toast to sunnier days with our Daiquiri No.4 recipe! A fusion of white rum, lime, and liqueurs, this cocktail promises to be the highlight of your summer gatherings.
Prep time: 1 minute minute
Mixing time: 1 minute minute
- 1½ oz White Rum
- ¾ oz lime juice - freshly squeezed
- ¼ oz Maraschino Liqueur
- ¼ oz sugar syrup
- Ice cubes
- Lime wheel - for garnish, optional
Chill Glass: Place your cocktail glass in the freezer to chill.
Combine Ingredients: In the cocktail shaker pour ¼ oz sugar syrup, ¾ oz lime juice, ¼ oz Maraschino Liqueur, and 1½ oz White Rum.
Shake Well: Add ice to the shaker and give the mixture a good shake until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.
Strain: Fine strain the mixture into your chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish: Add a lime wheel to the rim for garnish.
Substitutes:
- White Rum: When I'm out of white rum, I've successfully used gold rum. It imparts a slightly richer flavor, altering the drink's character subtly.
- Maraschino Liqueur: It's hard to replace its unique taste, but I've used cherry syrup in emergencies. The flavor will differ, but it keeps some cherry notes.
- Sugar syrup: You can swap sugar syrup for agave nectar or honey. It is worth noting that using different sweetness will alter the final taste.
- Lime juice: you can easily opt for lemon juice for a less tart flavor.
Making a Pitcher:
- Scale: To prepare a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. This means 12 oz of white rum, 6 oz of lime juice, 2 oz of sugar syrup, and 2 oz of maraschino liqueur.
- Mix: Combine all ingredients over ice in a large pitcher and stir.
- Serve: Pour into individual cocktail glasses, garnish each with a lime wheel, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- White Rum Substitute: Opt for a non-alcoholic white rum substitute. Several brands offer these, usually capturing the essence of rum without the alcohol.
- Maraschino Liqueur Substitute: Use non-alcoholic cherry syrups.
- Proceed As Usual: Replace the alcoholic ingredients with the mentioned non-alcoholic substitutes and follow the original steps.
Making it Vegan:
Most ingredients in the Daiquiri No.4 are inherently vegan. However, be cautious about the maraschino liqueur and simple syrup. Some brands might use non-vegan ingredients or processing methods. Always double-check the label or contact the manufacturer if unsure. If you can't confirm, plenty of vegan-friendly alternatives are available in the market. Choose those to ensure your Daiquiri No.4 remains vegan.
