Enjoy the warmth of this easy Cinnamon Coffee recipe! It combines fresh coffee grounds, a bit of cinnamon, and some cream to create the ideal winter beverage.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Mixing time: 1 minute
Servings: 1
Calories: 30

Ingredients

  • Ground coffee - for brewing 1 pot, approx. 10 tablespoons
  • Water - for brewing 1 pot, approx. 40 oz
  • ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 cinnamon stick - optional
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar - optional
  • 1 splash of milk or cream - optional

Equipment

  • Coffee Maker
  • Mug
  • Spoon

Instructions

  • Brew Coffee: Brew a pot of coffee in your usual coffee maker.
  • Prepare Filter: Prepare a coffee filter and place it over a separate Chemex. If you don’t have a Chemex, you can simply put the filter into a funnel on top of a bottle or large glass.
  • Add Cinnamon: Add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the filter.
  • Pour Coffee: Once the coffee is ready, slowly pour it over the cinnamon, into the separate filter. Let it drip completely so it can fully absorb the cinnamon flavor.
  • Serve: Once all the coffee has passed through the cinnamon-filled filter, serve in individual cups or mugs.
  • Sweeten (optional): If you like your coffee sweet, add 1 teaspoon of sugar and stir until dissolved.
  • Add Milk or Cream (optional): Add 1 splash of milk or cream and stir well for a creamier texture.
  • Add Cinnamon Stick (optional): Add 1 cinnamon stick into your mug and serve immediately.

Notes

Tips:

For a quicker preparation, you can simply mix together the ground coffee and cinnamon before brewing. The usual ratio would be roughly ½ teaspoon of cinnamon for 1 full pot of coffee, but you can adjust to taste. Then, place the cinnamon coffee blend into the coffee maker, and brew the coffee as you normally would, and serve it in individual mugs.

Substitutes:

  • Coffee: If you prefer something other than regular coffee, use decaf instead. You can also try chicory coffee for a less caffeinated option.
  • Ground Cinnamon: Any ground spice can be used to make this recipe. Feel free to experiment with your favorite ones! Cardamom and allspice pepper work particularly well, but you can also create your own blend of spices.
  • Sugar: Honey, agave nectar, or stevia are great alternatives to avoid refined sugar.
