Notes

Substitutes:

  • Bourbon: If you don't have bourbon, you can use rye whiskey or brandy as a substitute. Both will give a different flavor profile but still make a delicious cocktail.
  • Simple Syrup: If you're out of simple syrup, you can make your own by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat. Alternatively, honey or agave nectar can be used for a different sweetness profile.

Making a Pitcher of Bourbon Cobbler:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 24 orange slices, 16 slices of lemon, 16 oz of bourbon and 4 oz of simple syrup.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, muddle the citrus, combine the bourbon and simple syrup. Stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into individual ice-filled Old Fashioned glasses, garnish with a sprig of mint, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Bourbon Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic bourbon substitute; these are available in the market and do a good job mimicking bourbon's flavor.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use this non-alcoholic substitute instead of the regular bourbon, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • Simple Syrup: Ensure your syrup is made with vegan-friendly sugar or use an alternative such as agave nectar.
  • Proceed As Usual: After ensuring your ingredients are vegan-friendly, follow the original steps to enjoy a delicious vegan Bourbon Cobbler Cocktail.
