  • 1 oz Cream
  • Ice cubes
  • Maraschino cherry or cacao powder - for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Martini Glass
  • Shaker
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Strainer & Fine-strainer

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: Chill your martini glass with ice cubes or place it in the freezer a couple of hours before.
  • Add Cream: Measure and pour 1 oz Cream into the shaker.
  • Add Liqueurs: Pour ½ oz Crème de Cacao and 1 oz Banana Liqueur into the shaker.
  • Pour Vodka: Add 1 oz Vodka to the mixture.
  • Add Ice: Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
  • Shake Well: Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain into Glass: Discard the ice from the martini glass and fine strain the mixture into the chilled glass.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle some cacao powder on top or use a cherry for garnish.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Vodka: If you don't have vodka, you can use white rum for a different but still delicious flavor. I've also tried using coconut rum for an extra tropical twist.
  • Banana Liqueur: If banana liqueur is unavailable, you can use a banana-flavored syrup or even blend a small piece of ripe banana with the other ingredients.
  • Crème de Cacao: Try with amaretto liqueur or with Bayleys, both will work well in this cocktail.
  • Cream: You can substitute cream with milk, keeping in mind it won't give the same texture.

Making a Pitcher of Banana Split Martini:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 8 oz of vodka, 8 oz of banana liqueur, 4 oz of crème de cacao, and 8 oz of cream.
  • Mix: Blend your ingredients in a blender and store in the fridge for a couple of hours.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into chilled martini glasses, garnish with maraschino cherries, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Vodka Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic vodka substitute; these are available and reasonably mimic vodka's neutral flavor.
  • Banana Liqueur Substitute: Opt for banana-flavored syrup or blend a small piece of ripe banana with the other ingredients.
  • Crème de Cacao Substitute: Use chocolate syrup instead of crème de cacao for that sweet chocolaty taste.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • Cream Substitute: Use coconut or almond milk instead of cream to make this vegan-friendly cocktail.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these vegan substitutes to enjoy a delicious vegan Banana Split Martini.
