  • Add Campari: Add 1 oz Campari to the mix.

  • Strain: Strain your drink into the old fashioned glass over fresh ice.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Tequila: If you don't have Tequila, try using mezcal for a smokier flavor. I've also used white rum in a pinch, which gives a different but enjoyable taste.
  • Vermouth: You can substitute dry Vermouth if sweet Vermouth isn't available; add a touch of simple syrup to balance it out.
  • Campari: Aperol works well as a substitute if you prefer a less bitter profile. It still provides that citrusy essence.
  • Orange Bitters: If you're out of orange bitters, use Angostura Bitters for a different twist.

Making a Pitcher of Agavoni:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher serving 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. Use 8 oz each of Tequila, Vermouth, and Campari, plus several dashes of orange bitters.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the Tequila, Vermouth, Campari, and bitters. Stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into individual ice-filled Old Fashioned glasses, garnish with an orange twist, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Tequila Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic tequila alternative; these are available and mimic the agave flavor quite well.
  • Vermouth Substitute: Opt for non-alcoholic Vermouth or use grape juice with a splash of apple cider vinegar for acidity.
  • Campari Substitute: Choose a non-alcoholic aperitif or make an infusion with pomegranate juice and grapefruit peel for a touch of
  • Proceed As Usual: Omit the orange bitter and use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
