Notes

Substitutes:

  • Tequila: If you don't have Tequila, try using mezcal for a smokier flavor. I've also used vodka in a pinch; it changes the character but still works.
  • Limoncello: Triple sec or orange liqueur can replace limoncello if needed. It adds a different citrus note but complements the drink well.
  • Pomegranate Juice: Cranberry juice can substitute pomegranate juice for a similar tartness.
  • Agave Syrup: Honey or simple syrup can work if you're out of agave syrup, though they alter the sweetness slightly.

Making a Pitcher of Holiday Margarita:

  1. Scale: To serve 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. Use 8 oz of Tequila, 4 oz of limoncello, etc.
  2. Mix: In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients and stir well.
  3. Serve: Pour into ice-filled rocks glasses and garnish with lime or tangerine slices.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Tequila Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic tequila alternative; these mimic the flavor without alcohol.
  • Limoncello Substitute: Opt for a lemon-flavored non-alcoholic syrup.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a refreshing, non-alcoholic version.
