Ingredients

  • 2 oz Gin
  • ¼ oz sweet vermouth
  • ¼ oz dry vermouth
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 mint leaves
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint sprig, for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Chill Glass: Stir some ice cubes in your chilled martini glass.
  • Add Mint Leaves: Bash and place 2 mint leaves into the mixing glass.
  • Add Bitters: Add 2 dashes orange bitters.
  • Add Sweet Vermouth: Measure and pour ¼ oz sweet vermouth into the glass.
  • Add Dry Vermouth: Add ¼ oz dry vermouth to the mix.
  • Add Gin: Pour 2 oz Gin into the mixing glass.
  • Prep Mixing Glass: Fill your mixing glass with ice cubes.
  • Stir: Stir your mixture in order to mix and chill the ingredients.
  • Strain: Strain your drink into your chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish: Garnish with a mint leaf if desired.

Substitutes:

  • Gin: If you don't have gin, you can use vodka for a less punchy taste.
  • Vermouths: If you are out of vermouths try by using dry sherry wine and port wine they will still make a wonderful combination. 
  • Orange Bitters: Opt for Angostura bitters or grapefruit bitters for a different citrus aroma.

Making a Pitcher of Cooperstown Cocktail:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 16 oz of gin, 2 oz of sweet vermouth and dry vermouth, 16 dashes of orange bitters, and 16 mint leaves.
