Add Lemon Juice: Squeeze and add ¾ oz lemon juice into a heatproof mug.
Add Honey Syrup: Mix in ½ oz honey syrup.
Add Ginger Liqueur: Add ½ oz ginger liqueur to the mug.
Add Allspice Dram: Pour in ¼ oz allspice dram liqueur.
Add Bourbon: Pour 1 oz Bourbon into the mug.
Add Brandy: Measure and pour ½ oz Brandy de Jerez into the mix.
Add Tea: Fill your mug with the cinnamon-lemon-infused hot water.
Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
Garnish: Place a lemon wheel on top and sprinkle grated Nutmeg.
Substitutes:
- Bourbon: Try rye whiskey for a spicier kick or Scotch for a smoky note.
- Brandy de Jerez: I've used Apple Jack instead of brandy; it adds a similar depth to the drink.
- Ginger Liqueur: If ginger liqueur is unavailable, use ginger syrup for a similar flavor profile.
- Honey Syrup: For a vegan option, replace honey syrup with agave nectar or simple syrup.
Making a Pitcher of Fallen Leaf:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8, except for the hot water, which you can adjust as needed.
- Mix: In a large heatproof pitcher, combine the bourbon, brandy, ginger liqueur, allspice dram, lemon juice, and honey syrup.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into mugs and fill them with cinnamon-lemon-infused hot water, garnish with lemon wheels and grated Nutmeg.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Spirit Substitute: Use non-alcoholic whiskey and brandy alternatives available in stores.
- Ginger Liqueur Substitute: Use ginger syrup for that spicy kick.
- Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Honey Syrup Substitute: Replace honey syrup with agave nectar or maple syrup to keep it vegan-friendly without losing sweetness.
