  • Measuring Jigger
  • Spoon or Swizzle Stick

  • Prepare Glass: Place 1 tsp raw cane sugar or cane syrup into your glass.
  • Add Lime: Squeeze a lime over the sugar to produce ½ oz fresh lime juice. You can add the squeezed lime shell to the glass.
  • Add Rhum: Pour 2 oz Rhum Agricole into the glass.
  • Mix: Use the spoon or swizzle stick to mix the rum, the sugar and the lime juice until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
  • Optional: Add a small piece or a lime twist for garnish if desired.

Notes

Substitutes:

As an avid cocktail enthusiast, I've experimented with different ingredients. If Rhum Agricole, a French-style rum made from fresh cane juice, isn't available, you might try cachaca for a Brazilian twist or a white rum for a less grassy note. Be mindful that changing the rum alters the drink's character significantly. For the sweet component, honey is a delightful alternative to cane sugar or syrup, adding a floral note.

Making a Pitcher of Ti' Punch:

  • Scale: For a gathering, increase the quantities. For 8 servings, you'd use 16 oz of Rhum Agricole, 4 oz of lime juice, and 8 tsp of sugar or syrup.
  • Mix: Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves entirely.
  • Serve: Distribute the mixture into individual glasses, garnish if desired, and serve immediately for the best experience.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

For an alcohol-free version, omit the rum and use a non-alcoholic spirit if available. Alternatively, increase the lime juice to 1 oz and add 2 3 oz of chilled water or coconut water to maintain the tropical vibe. You'll keep the sweetness and citrusy Punch, minus the alcohol.

Making it Vegan:

The standard Ti' Punch recipe is inherently vegan, using plant-based ingredients: rum, lime, and sugar. However, if you're substituting honey for sugar or syrup, revert to the original cane sugar or a vegan-friendly syrup to ensure it stays vegan. Enjoy your cruelty-free refreshment!
