Substitutes:
- Japanese Whiskey: If you don't have Japanese Whisky, try using a smooth bourbon or rye whiskey for a different but rich flavor.
- Chili Syrup: You can make your own by soaking chili peppers in a simple syrup. I've used honey mixed with a pinch of cayenne pepper as an alternative.
- Blood Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed is best, but bottled works in a pinch.
- Agave: Simple syrup can replace Agave if needed; adjust the sweetness to taste.
Making a Pitcher of The Red Akuma:
- Scale: To serve 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. Use 12 oz of Japanese Whiskey, 4 oz of chili syrup, 8 oz of blood orange juice, and 4 oz of Agave.
- Mix: Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and stir well.
- Serve: Pour into individual ice-filled old fashioned glasses and garnish each with a blood orange slice or twist.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Whisky Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic whisky alternative or iced tea for a similar depth without alcohol.
- Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes to enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
