  • 4 oz Ginger Ale

  • Highball Glass
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Bar spoon or long stirrer

Instructions

  • Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour 2 oz Tequila over the ice.
  • Top up the glass with approx. 4 oz Ginger Ale.
  • Stir gently to mix the ingredients.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge: squeeze it on the drink and drop it in the glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Tequila: If you don't have Tequila on hand, you can use vodka or white rum as a substitute. Both will give a different flavor profile but still work well with the ginger ale.
  • Ginger Ale: If you're out of ginger ale, use ginger beer for a spicier kick or club soda for a less sweet option. Add some fresh ginger juice or grated ginger for that flavor.

Making a Pitcher of Tequila and Ginger Ale:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 16 oz of Tequila and 32 oz of ginger ale.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the tequila and ginger ale. Stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, garnish with a lime wedge, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Tequila Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic spirit like Seedlip Spice 94; it has complex flavors that work well in this cocktail.
  • Ginger Ale: You can keep the ginger ale as it is non-alcoholic.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • Check Your Brands: Most tequilas and ginger ales are vegan, but it's always good to check. Some brands may use animal products in their processing methods.
  • Serve: After ensuring all your ingredients are vegan-friendly, follow the original steps and serve your vegan cocktail.
