Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz lime juice - freshly squeezed
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries - hulled and halved
  • ½ oz agave syrup - or simple syrup
  • Crushed ice
  • Salt - for rimming, optional
  • Fresh strawberry - for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Margarita Glass
  • Lime Wedge (for rimming)

Instructions

  • Blend: In a blender, combine 2 oz Tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz lime juice, 1 cup fresh strawberries, ½ oz agave syrup, and crushed ice. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour: Transfer the blended mix into a Margarita glass.
  • Garnish: Add a fresh strawberry to the rim of the glass.

Notes

 Substitutes:

  • Tequila: When I've run out of tequila, I've reached for mezcal. It offers a smoky twist, which can be delightful. White rum can be a decent alternative if you're not up for that.
  • Triple Sec: In a bind, I've swapped Triple Sec with Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Both are orange liqueurs but bring slightly different profiles.
  • Agave Syrup: Honey is a quick substitute for agave syrup but has a distinctive taste. Simple syrup or stevia is a neutral alternative.
  • Fresh Strawberries: Frozen strawberries can be a lifesaver. They might make the drink slightly colder, so adjust the ice accordingly.

Making a Pitcher of Strawberry Margarita:

  • Scale: For a pitcher serving 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. This would mean 16 oz of tequila, 8 oz of triple sec, 8 oz of lime juice, 8 cups of strawberries, and 4 oz of agave syrup.
  • Blend: In a large blender, combine all the ingredients with crushed ice and blend until smooth.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into salt-rimmed Margarita glasses, garnish, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Tequila Substitute: Look for non-alcoholic tequila alternatives available in the market that mimic the taste without the alcohol.
  • Triple Sec Substitute: For a non-alcoholic version, use orange juice or an orange extract mixed with simple syrup.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use the non-alcoholic substitutes, blend, and enjoy a virgin Strawberry Margarita.

Making it Vegan:

The above recipe is already vegan-friendly. However, ensure the agave syrup or any other substitute you choose is certified vegan. Some processing methods might involve non-vegan practices. Always check the label.
