  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist or slice - for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Cocktail Strainer
  • Fine strainer
  • Measuring Jigger
  • Martini or Cocktail Glass chilled

Instructions

  • Chill Glass: Place your cocktail glass in the freezer or fill it with ice cubes to chill.
  • Mix Ingredients: In the cocktail shaker, combine 1 oz orange juice, 1 oz apricot Brandy, and 1 oz Gin with ice cubes.
  • Shake Vigorously: Give the mixture a good shake until well chilled.
  • Strain and Serve: Fine-strain the mixture into your chilled cocktail glass, removing any ice shards.
  • Garnish: Add a lemon twist or slice for that extra touch.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Gin: When I'm out of gin, I've swapped in vodka. It offers a different taste profile, cleaner with less complexity, but it still creates a delightful drink.
  • Apricot Brandy: Peach liqueur is my go-to substitute for apricot brandy. It's sweeter and has a distinct peach flavor, but works beautifully.
  • Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice or a citrus blend can be an interesting twist if you're missing OJ. The grapefruit offers a bit more tartness, which can be balanced with a hint of agave or simple syrup.

Making a Pitcher of Paradise:

  • Scale: For a group of 8, multiply each ingredient by 8: 8 oz of gin, 8 oz of apricot brandy, and 8 oz of orange juice.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, blend the gin, apricot brandy, orange juice over ice and stir thoroughly.
  • Serve: Pour into individual chilled cocktail glasses, garnish with a lemon twist or slice, and serve with a smile.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Gin Substitute: Non-alcoholic gin alternatives capture the botanical essence well.
  • Apricot Brandy Substitute: Opt for an apricot or peach nectar. These give the fruity essence without the alcohol.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use the non-alcoholic alternatives instead of the regular ingredients, follow the main recipe, and relish a booze-free Paradise.

Making it Vegan:

Most of the ingredients in a Paradise cocktail are inherently vegan. However, always ensure that any added sweeteners or commercial juices don't contain animal-derived ingredients, such as honey or certain types of processed sugar. Opt for organic or explicitly vegan brands when in doubt. Enjoy your vegan-friendly Paradise!
