Notes

Substitutes:

From personal experience, here are some suggestions:
  • Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey: If you're out of Jack Daniel's, you can use another type of whiskey, though it may slightly change the drink's character. Bourbon works, but keep in mind it might add a sweeter profile.
  • Triple Sec: Cointreau or Grand Marnier can step in. They're both orange liqueurs, but each has its unique taste. Cointreau tends to be more citrus-forward, while Grand Marnier brings a richer flavor due to its cognac base.
  • Lemon-Lime Soda: If you're not a fan of soda, you can replace it with sparkling water. Just remember to adjust the sweetness to your taste.

Making a Pitcher of Lynchburg Lemonade:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. This equals 12 oz of Jack Daniel's, 4 oz of Triple Sec, 8 oz of lemon juice, 4 oz of simple syrup and 32 oz of lemon-lime soda.
  • Mix: Combine the whiskey, Triple Sec, simple syrup and lemon juice in a large pitcher. Stir well. Just before serving, add the soda to maintain fizziness.
  • Serve: Pour into individual ice-filled highball glasses, garnish, and enjoy.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Whiskey Substitute: Opt for a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative, which can be found in specialty stores. These usually carry the smokiness and depth of regular whiskey without the alcohol.
  • Triple Sec Substitute: You can use an orange-infused syrup or non-alcoholic orange liqueur for an orange essence.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use the non-alcoholic alternatives instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and sip on a booze-free Lynchburg Lemonade.

Making it Vegan:

Good news! The Lynchburg Lemonade is typically vegan. Just ensure the sugar, the lemon-lime soda and Triple Sec you use don't have any animal-derived ingredients. Some alcoholic products use fining agents derived from animals, so always check labels or brand policies if you're strict about vegan choices.
