Notes

Substitutes:

  • Rye Whiskey: If you don't have rye whiskey, bourbon can work as a substitute for a slightly sweeter profile.
  • Gentian Liqueur: Opt for a couple of dashes of aromatic bitters.
  • Yellow Chartreuse: Try using green Chartreuse for a more herbal kick, but reduce the amount slightly due to its stronger flavor.
  • Maraschino Liqueur: Cherry Heering can be a good substitute if you want a richer cherry flavor.

Making a Pitcher of Loose Talk:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. Use 8 oz of rye whiskey, 4 oz of gentian liqueur, and so on.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients with ice and stir well.
  • Serve: Strain into individual chilled coupe glasses, and garnish with lemon or lime twists.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Rye Whiskey Substitute: Use non-alcoholic whiskey alternatives available in stores.
  • Liqueur Substitute: Create a mix of herbal teas and cherry juice to mimic the flavors of the liqueurs.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a non-alcoholic version.
