Notes

Substitutes:

  • Cachaça: If you don't have Cachaça, I've used white rum as a substitute. It gives a slightly different flavor but still works well in this recipe.
  • Condensed Milk: I sometimes use evaporated Milk with some sugar added for a lighter version. It's not as sweet but still creamy.
  • Milk: Use coconut or soy milk for a different twist.
  • Cocoa Powder: Chocolate syrup can be a quick fix if you're out of cocoa powder. Just adjust the sweetness accordingly.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Cachaça Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic spirit that mimics the flavor profile of Cachaça. These are available and do a good job of replicating the taste.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use this non-alcoholic substitute instead of Cachaça, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

  • Condensed Milk Substitute: Use sweetened condensed coconut milk or another plant-based condensed milk alternative. I've found these work just as well and keep the drink creamy.
