Notes

Substitutes:

  • Bourbon: If you don't have bourbon, I've used rye whiskey for a spicier kick or even a smooth Canadian whisky as an alternative.
  • Green Chartreuse: Yellow Chartreuse can work if you prefer a milder herbal flavor, though it will slightly alter the drink's profile.
  • Bittersweet Orange-Red Aperitivo: If unavailable, try using triple sec with a dash of orange bitters.
  • Lemon Juice: Lime juice can be substituted in a pinch, providing a tangy variation.

Making a Pitcher of Last Flight:

  • Scale: To serve 8, multiply all ingredients by 8—8 oz each of bourbon, Green Chartreuse, bittersweet orange-red aperitivo, and lemon juice.
  • Mix: In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients and stir well with plenty of
  • Serve: Strain into individual chilled coupe glasses and garnish with lemon twists.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Bourbon Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative; these mimic the flavor without the alcohol content.
  • Green Chartreuse Substitute: Try an herbal tea concentrate with similar flavors like chamomile or mint for complexity.
  • Aperitivo Substitute: Create a simple syrup infused with orange peel and herbs to replicate the bittersweet notes.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using these substitutes for a refreshing non-alcoholic version.
