  • Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
  • Garnish: Place a lime wedge or mint sprig into the glass for garnish.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Irish Whiskey: If you don't have Irish Whiskey, I've found that bourbon works well for a sweeter twist. Rye whiskey can also add a spicier note if you prefer.
  • Ginger Beer: In a pinch, ginger ale can substitute for ginger beer, though it's less spicy and sweeter. You should add a dash of bitters to enhance the flavor.
  • Lime Juice: Fresh lemon juice can replace lime juice if needed, but it will alter the citrus profile slightly.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Whiskey Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic whiskey alternative; these are available and mimic the flavor profile quite well.
  • Proceed As Usual: Replace the regular Whiskey with the non-alcoholic version and follow the original steps to enjoy an alcohol-free Irish Mule.
