Measuring Jigger
Cocktail Glass chilled
Chill Glass: Place your cocktail glass in the freezer or fill it with ice for a few minutes.
Mix Ingredients: In the cocktail shaker, pour in ¼ oz Maraschino Liqueur, ½ oz fresh grapefruit juice, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, and 2 oz White Rum.
Shake: Add some ice cubes and seal the shaker. Shake vigorously until the outside feels cold.
Serve: Strain the mixture into your chilled cocktail glass, garnish and serve.
Substitutes:
- White Rum: Sometimes, I opt for a golden rum to add a hint of caramel flavor. For a smoky twist, mezcal can be an adventurous alternative.
- Maraschino Liqueur: A dash of almond syrup or amaretto can work in the absence of maraschino. However, it changes the profile, making it a tad sweeter.
Making a Pitcher:
- Scale: To prepare a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all ingredients by 8. For instance, 16 oz of white rum, 6 oz of lime juice, 4 oz of grapefruit juice, and 2 oz of maraschino liqueur.
- Mix: In a large pitcher with ice, combine all the ingredients. Stir thoroughly.
- Serve: Pour the concoction into individual chilled cocktail glasses and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- White Rum Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic rum substitute or even coconut water for a tropical touch.
- Maraschino Liqueur Substitute: Replace with a cherry or almond syrup.
- Proceed As Usual: Incorporate these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the original ingredients, adhere to the principal steps, and savor a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
This Hemingway Daiquiri recipe is inherently vegan, containing no animal-derived ingredients. However, always check product labels for any additives or processing agents that might be of concern.
