Highball Glass
Measuring Jigger
Stirrer or Bar Spoon
Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
Add Vodka: Pour 2 oz Vodka over the ice.
Add Cranberry Juice: Measure and pour 3 oz cranberry juice into the glass.
Add Soda Water: Top off with 1 oz soda water.
Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
Garnish: Place a lime wedge or mint sprig into the glass for garnish.
Substitutes:
- Vodka: You can use gin for a different flavor profile if you don't have vodka. I've also tried white rum, which adds a nice twist.
- Cranberry Juice: If you're out of cranberry juice, pomegranate juice works well as an alternative. It gives a slightly different but equally refreshing taste.
- Soda Water: You can substitute soda water with tonic water for a bit more bitterness or use lemon-lime soda for added sweetness.
Making a Pitcher of Cranberry Vodka Spritzer:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 16 oz of vodka, 24 oz of cranberry juice, and approximately 8 oz of soda water.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the vodka and cranberry juice. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into individual ice-filled highball glasses, top up with soda water, garnish with lime wedges or mint sprigs, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Vodka Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic vodka substitute; these are available and reasonably mimic vodka's neutral flavor.
- Proceed As Usual: Use this non-alcoholic substitute instead of regular vodka, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
