Notes

Substitutes:

  • Cachaça: If you don't have Cachaça, you can substitute white rum. It has a similar tropical flavor but a slightly different profile.
  • Cherry Liqueur: I've used grenadine instead of cherry liqueur when I wanted a sweeter, less alcoholic option. It works well and adds a nice color.
  • Fresh Lime Juice: Bottled lime juice can work in a pinch, but fresh lime juice always tastes better. If you're out of limes, lemon juice can be an alternative, though it will change the flavor slightly.

Making a Pitcher of Cherry Bomb Drink:

  • Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 12 oz of Cachaça, 4 oz of cherry liqueur, and 4 oz of fresh lime juice.
  • Mix: Combine the Cachaça, cherry liqueur, and fresh lime juice in a large pitcher. Stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, top with club soda, garnish with a lime wedge or cherry, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Cachaça Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic rum substitute; these are available and do a good job mimicking rum's flavor.
  • Cherry Liqueur Substitute: Opt for cherry syrup or grenadine to replace the cherry liqueur.
  • Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.

Making it Vegan:

The standard recipe is already vegan-friendly since it uses plant-based ingredients. Just ensure that any substitutes you use are also vegan-friendly. For example, some grenadines may contain animal-derived coloring agents, so check labels if you're using substitutes.
