Prep time: 1 minute minute
Mixing time: 1 minute minute
- 1½ oz Vodka
- 4 oz cranberry juice
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedge - for garnish, optional
Highball Glass
Measuring Jigger
Stirrer or Bar Spoon
Prep Glass: Fill your highball glass with ice cubes.
Add Vodka: Pour 1½ oz Vodka over the ice.
Add Cranberry Juice: Pour 4 oz cranberry juice into the glass.
Stir Gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients gently.
Garnish: Squeeze and drop a lime wedge into the glass for garnish.
Substitutes:
- Vodka: When I don't have vodka, I use gin. It gives a more botanical flavor to the drink. White rum also works well, offering a sweeter and smoother taste.
- Cranberry Juice: In the absence of cranberry juice, I've used pomegranate juice. It has a different but delightful taste, slightly sweeter and less tart.
Making a Pitcher:
- Scale: To make a pitcher that serves 8, multiply all the ingredients by 8. That would be 12 oz of vodka and 32 oz of cranberry juice.
- Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the vodka and cranberry juice. Stir well.
- Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, garnish with a lime wedge, and serve immediately.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Vodka Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic vodka substitute.
- Proceed As Usual: Use the non-alcoholic substitute instead of the regular vodka, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Check Ingredients: Ensure that the cranberry juice used is vegan. Some juices use animal-derived ingredients like gelatin or honey. Opt for a brand that doesn't use these ingredients.
- Serve: Once you have a vegan cranberry juice, follow the original steps and enjoy a vegan version.
