Substitutes:
- Gin: If you don't have Gin, try using vodka for a cleaner taste or rum for a sweeter profile.
- Triple Sec: Cointreau is a perfect substitute, or you can use Grand Marnier for a richer flavor.
- Lemon Juice: Fresh lime juice can replace lemon juice if needed; it adds a slightly different but refreshing citrus note.
- Grenadine: Pomegranate juice with a simple syrup can stand in for grenadine if you're out.
- Egg White: I've used aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) as an excellent vegan alternative for those who prefer not to use raw egg whites.
Making it Non-Alcoholic:
- Gin Substitute: Use a non-alcoholic gin substitute; these are available and reasonably mimic Gin's botanicals.
- Triple Sec Substitute: Opt for an orange-flavored non-alcoholic syrup.
- Proceed As Usual: Use these non-alcoholic substitutes instead of the regular ingredients, follow the original steps, and enjoy a non-alcoholic version.
Making it Vegan:
- Egg White Substitute: Use aquafaba (the liquid from canned chickpeas) instead of egg white; it creates a similar frothy texture without animal products.
- Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using aquafaba in place of egg white to make a vegan-friendly Boxcar drink.
