Notes

Substitutes:

  • Vodka: I often use gin when I want a different flavor profile; it adds a botanical touch to the drink. For a smoky flavor, tequila can be a great alternative.
  • Tomato Juice: In the absence of tomato juice, I blend fresh tomatoes and strain them to get a fresh, homemade version.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: Sometimes, I use soy sauce or a vegan Worcestershire sauce as a substitute to accommodate different dietary needs.

Making a Pitcher of Bloody Mary:

  • Scale: Multiply all the ingredients by 8 to serve 8. Mix 12 oz of vodka, 24 oz of tomato juice, and 4 oz of lemon juice.
  • Mix: Add the seasoning and combine all the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir well.
  • Serve: Pour the mixture into ice-filled highball glasses, garnish, and serve immediately.

Making it Non-Alcoholic:

  • Vodka Substitute: Use non-alcoholic vodka or omit it and add more tomato juice or water.
  • Proceed As Usual: Follow the original steps using the non-alcoholic substitute and enjoy a refreshing, non-alcoholic Bloody Mary.

Making it Vegan:

  • Worcestershire Sauce: Opt for a vegan version of Worcestershire sauce, as the regular one contains fish.
  • Check Ingredients: Ensure all other ingredients are vegan-friendly, especially any added garnishes like olives or pickles.
