Ingredients

  • 4 oz Champagne - chilled
  • 4 oz Guinness Stout - chilled

Equipment

  • Champagne Flute or Highball glass
  • Measuring Jigger

Instructions

  • Prep Glass: Choose a flute glass for a more elegant presentation or a pint glass for a traditional look.
  • Pour Champagne: Fill your glass halfway with approx. 4 oz Champagne.
  • Add Guinness: Slowly pour approx. 4 oz Guinness Stout over the Champagne. There should be roughly the same quantity of champagne and Guinness in the glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

Substitutes:

  • Champagne: If you don't have Champagne, I recommend using any sparkling wine like Prosecco or Cava. They offer similar bubbles and flavor profiles. Depending on your personal preference, you may use a dry or a sweeter kind of sparkling wine.
  • Guinness Stout: For a different stout experience, try Murphy's Irish Stout or even a local craft stout. They provide unique flavors but maintain a rich texture. Feel free to experiment with your favorite stouts & black beers!

Making it Vegan:

The Black Velvet cocktail is already vegan friendly: just make sure a vegan-certified champagne, as some producers may use animal products (such as isinglass) in their production process.  Brands like Freixenet (for sparkling wine) and Guinness Extra Stout (bottled version) are typically vegan.
